- Is Nollywood Better Than Hollywood? - Here's My Honest Take
Have you ever caught yourself watching a Nollywood movie and thinking, "This is so fake," yet eagerly paid for a ticket to see the next CGI-packed Hollywood blockbuster? Well, I’ve been there too. But over time, I realized something: while we’re busy criticizing Nollywood, we’re overlooking its brilliance and potential. Let me share why I think Nollywood deserves more love and why I believe it’s time we embrace Nigeria as the world’s real Wakanda. My Personal Nollywood-Hollywood Journey Is Nollywood Better Than Hollywood? - Here's My Honest Take Growing up, Nollywood was the backdrop to countless weekends. We’d watch the likes of "Living in Bondage", "The Figurine", or "Osuofia in London", and feel deeply connected to the stories. But as I grew older and Hollywood blockbusters like "Avengers", "Avatar", and "Transformers" dominated cinemas, I began noticing how we Nigerians were quick to dismiss our own creations. We’d say things like: "Why does that ghost disappear like that? So fake!" "Why is the sound of the gunshot so unrealistic?" Yet, we’d turn around and willingly watch Thor throw a hammer across the universe, or aliens invade Earth, without batting an eye. The Hollywood Illusion Hollywood thrives on fiction and special effects. Think of: 1. "Avengers: Endgame" – Entirely built on the idea of superpowered beings fighting with futuristic weapons. 2. "Avatar" – A visual masterpiece, but ultimately a story set on a fictional planet with blue-skinned aliens. 3. "Fast & Furious" series - Cars flying between skyscrapers? Please. These movies are fake - they’re meant to be. And yet, they’ve grossed billions because Hollywood mastered the art of marketing, production budgets, and global distribution. Nollywood: Authentic African Stories Nollywood, on the other hand, often mirrors real African experiences: Family dynamics in movies like "October 1" or "King of Boys". Traditional and cultural stories like "Igodo" or "Anikulapo". Political intrigue and corruption dramas like "Your Excellency". Even with limited budgets and resources, Nollywood produces movies that resonate emotionally with its audience. While the production may not match Hollywood's, the storytelling is raw, authentic, and uniquely African. Endless Nigerian Stories Waiting to Be Told In Taraba State and Northern Nigeria, the storytelling potential is immense. From the captivating tales of the Mambilla Plateau to the heroic histories of the Jukun and Mumuye tribes, there’s no shortage of rich, untapped content. And yet, we lack the investment to bring these stories to life on a global stage. Imagine a movie about: The Benue River’s significance in Taraba’s culture and economy. A retelling of the Gashaka-Gumti National Park as a setting for an African mythical adventure. Historical dramas based on Northern Nigerian kingdoms. Nigeria: The Real Wakanda When Marvel introduced Wakanda, the fictional African nation in "Black Panther", it struck a chord globally. People were drawn to the idea of an African utopia filled with culture, innovation, and power. But here's the thing: Nigeria could be the real-life Wakanda. Our people, stories, and culture have everything Hollywood pretended to create. We just need the resources and vision to showcase it. A Call to Action: Invest in Nigerian Stories It’s time we stop waiting for foreign filmmakers to define Africa and take ownership of our narratives. Just like how the American University of Nigeria (AUN) in Yola attracts students globally, a thriving Nollywood ecosystem in Taraba or elsewhere can do the same. Let’s create movies that not only entertain but also bring tourists, investors, and opportunities to our shores. Partner with IBI Foundry to Make It Happen At IBI Foundry, we’re passionate about turning untold Nigerian stories into global phenomena. Whether you’re a filmmaker, investor, or creative visionary, we invite you to partner with us. Let’s show the world that Nollywood, and Nigeria, have stories worth telling. Over to you! - IbiFoundry SEO Case-Study: How I Generated 50+ Organic Blog Post Ideas for Belov Digital Agency
Introduction: The Idea Behind this Blog Post Belov Digital Agency, owned by Alex Belov, specializes in services such as UI/UX design, web development, and branding. I’ve been a fan of Alex’s strategic comment marketing and wanted to contribute by offering a free blog audit for his agency. In under an hour, I identified content gaps, proposed improvements, and generated 55 blog post ideas tailored to their audience. You can download this comprehensive list as a PDF - it’s perfect for any business offering similar services. IbiFoundry SEO Case-Study: How I Generated 50+ Organic Blog Post Ideas for Belov Digital Agency Why Blog Post or Content Ideas Are Crucial Blogging remains one of the most effective digital marketing strategies. Unlike social media, blogs are long-term assets continuously generating traffic and leads. A strong blog funnel can guide readers from awareness to conversion, making it an indispensable tool for startups and agencies. Many businesses overlook blogging potential, thinking it’s just for personal stories or entertainment. However, with the right strategy, it’s a powerhouse for traffic and sales. Studying Belov Agency’s Blog and Content Strategy Belov Digital Agency offers 8 core services, attracting a diverse audience including web designers, UI/UX developers, and WordPress users. This diversity calls for targeted content that educates, engages, and converts. While their blog has captivating headlines, I quickly noticed areas for improvement: Lack of Depth: Articles entice but don’t fully educate or solve reader problems. Missed Opportunities with CTAs: There are no clear calls to action before or after the articles, which could guide readers toward conversion. Inconsistent Use of the “3 E’s” Framework: Content should entice, educate, and include engaging CTAs. The Q-M-G Strategy for Generating Lucrative Blog and Content Ideas To generate the blog post ideas, I used a systematic approach combining Quora, Medium, and Google: List the Agency’s Services: This provided the foundation for the topics. Google Search for Keywords: Identified broad query terms potential customers might search for. Quora & Reddit: Extracted relevant questions asked by users. SEO Tools (Ubersuggest & GKP): Refined the topics with keyword data and search trends. Refining the Blog Post Ideas Not all topics generate leads or conversions. For instance, articles like “How to Learn UX/UI Design” attract hobbyists, not clients. Instead, topics like “Key Skills to Look for When Hiring a Webflow Developer” are client-focused and more likely to convert. I also use AI to draft headlines, then refine them to ensure they resonate with humans and align with SEO best practices. Meet Jerry Taki Zaku , Founder and CEO, Elite Party. Jerry Taki Zaku , is the Founder, Custodian and CEO of the Elite Party , a politically and impact driven, non-governmental organization working Jerry Ta and the world at large. JT Zaku is someone I’ve admired all my life—not just because he’s my big brother, but because of his relentless drive to create change. Custodians of the Elite Party by Jerry T. Zaku Let me take you on a little journey through JT Zaku’s story, our shared childhood, and the exciting mission of the Elite Party. Jerry T Zaku: The Making of a Political Leader Growing up in Jalingo, Taraba State, Jerry was always the one in charge. Whether it was organizing us siblings to clean the compound or rallying our cousins to complete a task, Jerry naturally knew how to take control and get things done. He’s the big brother every younger sibling dreams of—responsible, disciplined, and always looking out for us. But what truly set Jerry apart is his passion for politics. Even back in secondary school, he’d talk about “making an impact.” When he went on to study Political Science at the university, it all started making sense. Jerry wasn’t just talking politics—he was living it. From University Dreams to Political Realities After graduation, Jerry hit the ground running. He didn’t just sit back and complain about societal problems like most people. He rolled up his sleeves and got involved. Today, he works under the Member of the House of Representatives for Wukari - Ibi Federal Constituency, Taraba state learning the ropes and building relationships with key players in Nigeria’s political landscape. Jerry Zaku alongside the Member of the House of Representatives, Wukari - Ibi Federal Constituency, Taraba state It’s one thing to dream about making a difference; it’s another to actively work towards it. Jerry does the hard work every single day. Watching him juggle his responsibilities with such discipline and determination has been inspiring for me. THE BIRTH OF THE ELITE PARTY - JERRY T ZAKU JT Zaku’s work in politics led him to realize one important thing: if Nigeria is going to change, it won’t be through the existing political systems alone. We need fresh ideas, new voices, and organizations that are people oriented. That’s how the Elite Party was born. The Elite Party is more than just an organization; it’s a movement. It’s about empowering young people to take leadership roles, networking and creating sustainable impact in our world today. Exclusive Interview with JT Zaku: The Visionary Behind the Elite Party To give you even deeper insight into the Elite Party and its mission, I sat down with my elder brother, JT Z aku , for a one-on-one chat. Here are some of the highlights from our conversation: Q: What inspired you to start the Elite Party? Jerry : Growing up in Nigeria, I’ve always been passionate about leadership, governance and politics. And over the years, I've come to realize that our society is plagued with a number of multi-dimensional issues that demands immediate solutions and with this, we need people who are passionate about their purpose in life and are willing to use that purpose to provide solutions to some of the problems we face. The Elite Party was born out of a need to create a space where real change could happen—a platform where young people, professionals, and everyday Nigerians can come together to build a better future. Q: What’s the main mission of the Elite Party? Jerry : The mission is simple: to empower youths from all over the world to take ownership of their future. We aim to: Train young leaders who are equipped to make meaningful changes. To provide a platform for networking, skill-building, collaboration and empowering our members to achieve their goals . Bridge the gap between politics and the people by addressing grassroots issues directly. It’s not just about playing politics—it’s about restoring dignity and hope to our systems for the sake of posterity. Q: Where do you see the Elite Party in the next ten years? Jerry : In ten years, I see the Elite Party becoming a household name across Nigeria. We want to be the go-to organization for young people who are passionate about their purpose and destiny, politics and governance but don’t know where to start. By then, I envision us fielding qualified candidates in public offices, organizing impactful community development projects, and having a nationwide network of members committed to making a difference. Q: What are the biggest challenges you’ve faced so far? Jerry : Honestly, one of the biggest challenges is getting to kick start the campaign. There are so many youths who are going the opposite direction of their destinies, we want to as soon as possible begin the campaign of showing them the roadmap that leads to a fulfilling lifestyle. Another challenge is funding—running a youth minded organization and implementing projects require resources, and we’re working hard to secure sustainable support. Q: What advice would you give to young Nigerians who want to join politics? Jerry : My advice is simple: start small, but start now. You don’t need to be in the House of Representatives or a governor to make an impact. Engage with your local community, speak out about issues, and educate yourself about Nigeria’s political system. And most importantly, stay true to your values. Politics doesn’t have to mean losing your integrity. Q: How can people join or support the Elite Party? Jerry : We’re always looking for passionate individuals who share our vision for a better Nigeria. You can visit our website (we’re working on launching it soon) or reach out to us directly. Whether you want to volunteer, share ideas, or simply spread the word, there’s a place for you at the Elite Party. Together, we can change the narrative. This interview with Jerry gave me a deeper appreciation for the vision and determination behind the Elite Party . It’s not just another organization—it’s a call to action for every Nigerian who dreams of a brighter future. If you’re inspired by Jerry’s story and the mission of the Elite Party, I encourage you to get involved. This is our chance to reclaim our country and create a system that truly serves the people. The Mission of the Elite Party The Elite Party is built on a few key principles: Empowering Youths in Politics : Jerry firmly believes that young people are the key to Nigeria’s future. The Elite Party provides resources, mentorship, and opportunities for youths to get involved in politics, not as pawns but as leaders. Better Governance : By training and supporting honest, capable leaders, the Elite Party aims to create a system that works for the people, not for the pockets of a few. A Personal Note About Jerry To be honest, I secretly admire my brother, Jerry. He’s one of the most hardworking and disciplined people I know. He doesn’t just talk about making a difference; he does the work. He’s always learning, always networking, always pushing forward. As kids, I watched him lead with confidence. Today, I watch him with the same energy and determination he has always had. Jerry has shown me that leadership isn’t just about having a title—it’s about taking action, staying disciplined, and being consistent. The Future of the Elite Party The Elite Party has big plans for the future: Promoting Youth Leadership : We envision a Nigeria where young people are not just empty barrels, but leaders in various fields of life. Grassroots Development : By working with local communities, the Elite Party plans to address issues confronting our local communities. Changing the Narrative : Through transparency, accountability, and innovation, the Elite Party aims to show Nigerians—and the world—that clean, effective governance and leadership is possible. Why This Matters Nigeria is a country bursting with potential, but we’ve been held back far too long. The Elite Party is here to improve on that. It’s not just Jerry’s dream—it’s a dream for every Nigerian who wants a brighter future. If you’re tired of sitting on the sidelines, this is your chance to get involved. Whether you’re a student, a professional, or just someone who cares about Nigeria, the Elite Party welcomes you. Finally, Consider Working with Jerry? - Championing Education: The Inspiring Leadership of Mrs. Rabi Sunday
Mrs. Rabi Sunday - TSUBEB A Story of Dedication - Featuring Mrs. Rabi Sunday, TSUBEB, Taraba State, Nigeria. "Mrs. Rabi Sunday, the current acting chairperson of the Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB), has been a beacon of hope and transformation in the Taraba state educational sector since early 2023." Have you ever met someone so dedicated to their work that it inspires you to push harder in your own life? That’s exactly how I feel every time I think of Mrs. Rabi Sunday, the acting chairperson of the Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB). But to me and my siblings, she’s simply “Aunt Rabi.” I’ve known Aunt Rabi for over six years through my dad, the former Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education in Taraba State. From our very first meeting, I could tell she was a go-getter. In fact, the first time I met her was on a farm, and that memory has stayed with me ever since. Dressed in her farming attire and radiating energy, she was passionately discussing crop yields and planting techniques. That day, I realized Aunt Rabi wasn’t just a dedicated educationist—she was deeply passionate about agriculture too. Rising Through the Ranks Mrs. Rabi Sunday’s journey is one of grit and determination. She started her career as an Administrative Officer in the early 2000s, dedicating herself to the service of Taraba State’s educational sector. Over the years, her commitment to excellence and her ability to inspire those around her propelled her through the ranks. Today, she’s the acting chairperson of TSUBEB, a role she has embraced with the same passion and determination that marked the beginning of her career. Under her leadership, TSUBEB has seen significant strides in improving school attendance, teacher performance, and student outcomes. Her vision is clear: to provide quality education for every child in Taraba State, regardless of their background. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed; she’s earned the trust and admiration of policymakers, educators, and community leaders alike. Mrs. Rabi Sunday’s tenure has been marked by groundbreaking initiatives. One of the highlights was the flag-off of the distribution of educational materials to the 16 local government areas (LGAs) in Taraba State under Governor Agbu Kefas. These materials included: Tablets designed specifically for students and teachers to enhance digital learning. Textbooks covering core subjects to support classroom learning. School boards to improve teaching quality. Uniforms to promote equality and reduce absenteeism. Markers and teaching aids to facilitate effective instruction. The TSUBEB platform, launched during her time, has been a cornerstone of her achievements. This platform integrates technology to streamline education management and improve access to resources for both teachers and students. It’s a legacy that will continue to impact the educational sector for years to come. Pictorial Highlights Mrs. Rabi Sunday’s impact is best captured through her work. Some key moments include: Posing with the Commissioner of Education, Taraba State, during the launch of key educational projects. Overseeing the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of educational materials. Engaging with local communities and schools to ensure that no child is left behind. A Dual Passion: Education and Agriculture While Mrs. Rabi Sunday has made a name for herself in the education sector, her passion for agriculture remains unwavering. She believes that farming and education go hand in hand, as both are essential for community development. Aunt Rabi often says, “You can’t teach a hungry child.” She has been an advocate for school feeding programs and has supported local farmers to ensure food security in rural areas. Her dual focus on education and agriculture embodies a holistic approach to societal progress. Lessons from Mrs. Rabi Sunday Mrs. Rabi’s story is a testament to the power of dedication, resilience, and vision. She’s taught me (and Tarabans in general) that no matter where you start, what truly matters is your commitment to making a difference. She started her career as an Administrative Officer in the early 2000s, dedicating herself to the service of Taraba State’s educational sector. Over the years, her commitment to excellence and her ability to inspire those around her propelled her through the ranks. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed; she’s earned the trust and admiration of policymakers, educators, and community leaders alike. Whether she’s championing educational reforms or working on her farm, Mrs. Rabi Sunday’s energy and enthusiasm are contagious. Her journey reminds us that leadership is not about titles but about the impact we make in the lives of others. She has shown that it’s possible to juggle multiple passions and excel in them, as long as you remain focused on your goals. A Call to Action Mrs. Rabi Sunday has proven herself to be an exceptional leader in the education sector. Her achievements speak for themselves, but she can do even more with the right support. Policymakers and stakeholders: This is your chance to work with a visionary leader who understands the challenges of the education sector and has the solutions to overcome them. Let’s rally behind her efforts to transform Taraba State’s schools and create a brighter future for our children. Community members: Join me in commending Aunt Rabi for her unwavering dedication. You know, Nigeria is just one kind amazing place. We have so many people with raw, crazy, mind-blowing talents that the rest of the world would never believe. Let me give you one example. The other day, I was watching a video on YouTube—Jimmy Kimmel Live. He had one celebrity guest, and she did something that made everybody in the studio start clapping and shouting. Do you know why? Because here in Nigeria, even a 10-year-old pikin can do that on a random Tuesday afternoon. In fact, if you go to any roadside suya spot in Jalingo, the guys there are opening Coke bottles with their teeth like it’s nothing. No big deal. That’s when it hit me—there’s so much talent in this country, especially in places like Taraba, but most of it is hidden. Nobody sees it. Nobody celebrates it. - Execution Over Knowledge: A New Year’s Lesson - by Simon Zaku
Happy New Year, everyone! Today, 1st January 2025, I had an amazing time with my friends and the IBIFoundry family at a chill spot in Jallingo, Taraba. The vibe was unmatched—filled with laughter, deep conversations, and plenty of gist to go around. Let me introduce you to my crew: Collins, Love, Samuel, Robert, Soctsi , and Kifasi (aka Skidoo). These are not just friends—they’re dreamers, doers, and people who inspire me every day. But amidst the fun and great company, one lesson stood out for me today: execution is everything. The Power of Taking Action While we were talking, Love shared a brilliant idea with me: “Simon, you should add music to your website!” Now, if this was me years ago, I might have nodded, said, “Good idea,” and forgotten about it. But today? I didn’t just think about it—I executed it. Right there, I worked on embedding music into my website. Done and dusted. Love was impressed, and I explained to her why: knowledge alone is not enough. You can know everything about what to do, but until you act on it, it’s useless. Execution is the real key to progress. Soctsi Kifasi: A Doer in Action Another example that stood out today was Soctsi, aka Kifasi, one of our IBIFoundry team members. A while back, I spoke to him about starting his blog. Guess what? Soctsi didn’t just listen—he executed. As of today, he already has 9 posts on his blog, and he’s digging deeper into it with every passing day. That’s the kind of energy I admire. Because here’s the truth: you don’t need to know everything to start. You just need to start. Execution breeds momentum, and momentum breeds success. Why Execution Matters It’s easy to get stuck in the “planning” stage. You read, research, and gather all the knowledge you can. But without execution, all that knowledge is just wasted potential. Taking action—even imperfect action—is what gets you results. It’s what separates the dreamers from the doers. 2025: Our Year of Doing So as we step into this new year, I challenge you to embrace execution. Don’t just learn—apply. Don’t just dream—do. Whether it’s starting that blog, launching that business, or even something as small as adding music to your website ( shoutout to Love for the idea! ), take the first step. Here’s to a year of doing, creating, and achieving. Peace. Simon Taki Zaku, Founder, CEO, IbiFoundry.com.ng For Ibifoundry.com.ng/blog .
- How to Travel Safely in Nigeria (Road Trips): Insider Tips for 2025
Have you ever wondered what it takes to travel safely across Nigeria, a country rich in cultural diversity and natural beauty? Well, as someone who has traversed the northern, western, and eastern regions of Nigeria extensively, I can confidently share some insider tips to make your journey as smooth and secure as possible. Let me tell you a bit about my enormous Nigerian travel history as someone born and brought up in Taraba State. I’ve spent most of my time in the north, traveling by air around 15 to 20 times and by road more than 50 times. Having schooled in different states and navigated Nigeria’s highways, I’ve experienced everything from life-threatening accidents to run-ins with armed robbers and motor park scammers. But GOD kept me alive. And for this, I owe it all to Him. These experiences have equipped me with invaluable lessons that I’m excited to share with you. Please read my story by subscribing to IbiFoundry to become an IbiFounder! 1. Always Use Official Motor Parks (I can't stress this enough) Wherever you are in Nigeria, always find the official park for your state or local government. These parks are more reliable and safer than random roadside options. Yes, roadside transport might be cheaper, but the risks - like encountering unregistered drivers—aren’t worth it. 2. Engage with Fellow Travelers Once you’re in a vehicle, start conversations with other passengers. Building rapport can sometimes save you a lot of stress. For example, during one trip from Jalingo to Abuja, I helped an elderly woman with her luggage. When we arrived, she kindly offered me a ride to my destination, saving me both time and money. 3. Pack Smart and Light Keep your luggage minimal. Motor parks often charge exorbitantly for excess luggage, and traveling light makes your journey more manageable. 4. Be Watchful and Plan Ahead Avoid spontaneous travel. Let someone know your destination and expected arrival time. Be cautious and stay alert to your surroundings. 5. Start Early and Be Prepared If you’re embarking on a long journey, start as early as possible. Prepare snacks, water, and other essentials, as some drivers might go 5 to 10 hours without stopping. Planning ahead ensures you’re not left stranded or hungry. 6. Choose Your Vehicle Wisely At most Nigerian parks, there are two common types of vehicles: - Toyota Hiace (16-18 seats): Slower and less expensive, but often overloaded. - Smaller (Sienna) Buses (7-8 seats): Faster, more convenient, but pricier. For long distances, I recommend paying a little extra for the smaller bus. It’s more comfortable and gets you to your destination quicker. I once took a Toyota Hiace from Abuja to Ibi, a journey that should’ve lasted 7 hours. Instead, it stretched into 12 grueling hours. Trust me, comfort and speed are worth the extra cost. 7. Avoid Night Travel Traveling at night increases risks, such as accidents or security issues. Stick to daytime journeys when visibility is better, and help is more accessible in case of emergencies. 8. Keep Your Valuables Secure Carry a crossbody bag for essentials like your phone, wallet, and ID. Avoid flashy items that might attract unnecessary attention. 9. Have Emergency Contacts Do you know what I personally do when traveling by Road in Nigeria? I always text my family and friends after every significant village, town, local government or state. My mom made me do that 😂 So lets say I am traveling from Abuja to Jalingo, I text my mom when we leave Abuja town, get to Keffi, I text, leave Nasarawa state, I text, approaching Ibi river, I text her still. Next, crossing river Ibi, I text, we have Wukari, until Jalingo. This way, my parents and family are aware of my location at all times. Save local emergency numbers on your phone, including police, hospitals, and any contacts in your destination city. In Nigeria, preparedness can be the difference between a small inconvenience and a major ordeal. 10. Trust Your Instincts If something feels off about a driver, a fellow passenger, or the vehicle, don’t hesitate to change your plans. It’s better to err on the side of caution. Bonus Tips for Air Travel in Nigeria - Book flights early to get the best rates. - Arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before your flight. - Keep an eye on your luggage, especially in crowded airports. In Conclusion, Trust God and Pray Traveling in Nigeria can be both exciting and challenging, but with the right precautions, you can ensure a safe and enjoyable journey. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned traveler like me, these tips will help you navigate the beautiful yet complex terrain of Nigeria with confidence. Do you have travel stories or tips to share? Drop them in the comments; I’d love to hear from you!

Traditional royalty, including the King of Takum , adding a regal touch to the festivities. Countless dignitaries and prominent figures from across Taraba State and beyond. As a proud attendee, I had the rare opportunity come close and even converse with some of these influential personalities and figures. The sense of camaraderie and respect in the air was infectious. It reminded me of the strength of community and the importance of celebrating our elders while they are still with us. As I mingled with the guests and soaked in the atmosphere, I couldn’t help but feel immense pride in being from Taraba - a state rich in culture, history, and remarkable people like Mamman.
